News Release - February 23, 2004 We regret to inform our friends and listeners that due to circumstances beyond the control of the Sons of Dixie, the United Kingdom tour (referenced below) has been postponed until next year. Many of you have already donated to this trip, and we are extremely grateful for that. We will be contacting the donors over the next few days to ascertain whether you would like for us to keep the donation (we will still be raising money for next year's tour), or if you'd like for us to return it at this time. Many thanks to all who are supporting us in this endeavor. |

July 12 - 22, 2004 - (Postponed until 2005) The Sons Of Dixie have some exciting news!! Along with the Crystal Coast Choral Society, the Sons Of Dixie have been invited to make a ten day tour of the United Kingdom! During that ten day period, we will perform seven times beginning with a concert at St. Pauls Cathedral in London, England! From there, it's on to Ely Cathedral, a concert in Oxford, then Gloucester Cathedral, and finally performing two concerts in Wales. Needless to say, the Sons are very excited about taking a little "Dixie" and our Southern culture across the Atlantic. The Sons are going to have to raise the funds to make this tour. We are looking at $3000.00 per man which will include air fare, motel, most meals, transportation while there, and a guide to help get us from place to place. For the first time ever, we are asking folks to help us. We are excepting donations of any size. We are accepting more singing engagements than usual and are working hard to sale our cd's and other merchandise. If you would like to offer your support towards this endeavor, we would greatly appreciate it. If you can't help us financially, we would appreciate it if you would continue to support us in your hearts and say a prayer for us that we may properly represent the South and 1860's America while in the United Kingdom. Thank you. The Sons of Dixie Donations may be sent to: Sons Of Dixie 313 Daisy Ct. Jacksonville, N.C. 28540 (For more information about this tour please contact us) |

Release of New CD! The Sons of Dixie are happy to announce the release of our brand new CD, Bright Summer Days. We began laying down tracks a few months ago and were anxious to have the project finished by Christmas. Although we didn't meet our deadline, we managed to produce the recording in time to usher in a great New Year! The Sons are extremely proud of this collection of 19th Century music, and we believe our listeners will be truly delighted! In the movies! Although not exactly a Sons of Dixie endeavor, Michael, Warren, and sound man,Tommy Jarman recently volunteered as extras in the upcoming Ted Turner movie production, Gods and Generals. The movie is the prequel to The Killer Angels, the novel upon which the film Gettysburg was based. Written by Jeff Shaara (son of Michael Shaara, author of The Killer Angels), Gods and Generals will soon be released as a major motion picture written and directed by Ron Maxwell. The movie was filmed in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. Many of the actors from the movie Gettysburg will reprise their roles in the new film. There will be some notably new actors in this movie however. Robert Duvall plays the part of Robert E. Lee, and Bruce Boxleitner is General James Longstreet. Of course, you may even recognize a few members of the Sons of Dixie making their debut on the big screen! We thought you might be interested in seeing a few photos taken on the set of Gods and Generals. We think you will recognize a few famous (and not so famous) faces!
